Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig September 21 1983) is an American actress, best known for her roles as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television series Lost and Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Her parents had divorced and she relocated with her mother to Los Angeles. While struggling financially she landed her first part as Rachel's Room's title character the video on-demand series Rachel's Room in the year 2001. She went on to earn an Young Artist Award nomination in 2002 for her performance as the 15 year old murder victim Martha Moxley in the television movie Murder in Greenwich. Grace Rutherford played Shannon Rutherford for Lost's first two seasons in 2004 as well as sharing with her a Screen Actors Guild Award (with all the other actors) with her. The show ended in 2005 and Grace was keen to work on film more frequently, having starred opposite Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. The role she played was Kim Mills opposite Liam Neeson (both in Taken the year 2008) in Suburban Girl and the Jane Austen Book Club. In 2008, she reprised the role Taken 2 (2013) and Taken 3 (2015). The actress also appeared in Alice in Malice in Wonderland which is an updated interpretation from Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace was back on the Lost series in the final two episodes as Shannon. She appeared in 2013's six-season of Californication. She plays Faith a groupie and a muse to the stars that catches the eye of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. Gyllenhaal is a member of her family, and is the older cousin of Jake Gyllenhaal. In her early teens, she played small parts in her father's movies and was co-starring with her sister in Donnie Darko the famous cult film. She also appeared as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. She also appeared in Mona Lisa Smile (2003). The leading roles of Gyllenhaal in Secretary, the romantic comedy-drama erotico and Sherrybaby (a dramatic) earned her nominations for Golden Globe Awards. In 2006, she appeared in numerous commercially successful films, such as World Trade Center. However, it was her role as Rachel Dawes that brought her more attention with The Dark Knight (2008). The role she played in Crazy Heart as a mother with a single child received her a nomination to an Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. The subsequent roles she has played include Nanny McPhee, The Big Bang and Hysteria. Her other roles include an agent in the action-thriller White House Down (2013), a Secret Service agent in the action thriller White House Down (2013) and a musician in the film Frank (2014) and her role as the lead in the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). In 2021 Gyllenhaal made her writing and directed debut in the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter for which she won The Lost Daughter the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
